Job Title: Scientist / Engineer Location: Durham, NC Duration: Fulltime Perm role The Inhalation Scientist / Engineer is responsible for metered dose inhaler (MDI) pre-formulation, formulation, process development, and lab / pilot scale MDI filling as well as analytical support. Formulates solution and suspension MDIsSelects components (valves, cans, actuators, dose counters, overwraps) for MDI developmentDevelops, troubleshoots, and optimizes MDI processes from lab to pilot scaleAssists in scale up and transfer of processes from pilot to exhibit and commercial scaleMaintains a state of readiness of the MDI process equipment by performing preventive maintenance, calibration or functional modification as necessaryCharacterizes active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for respiratory products using techniques such as particle size by laser diffraction, Karl Fischer (KF) moisture analysis, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and microcalorimetryGenerates process documentation and operating instructionsPrepares written protocols and reportsResponsible for other duties as assigned.Familiarity with health and safety regulations and cGMPAnalytical thinker and problem solverExperience in MDI formulation and performance testingExperience in MDI processing from R&D / pilot scaleExhibit or commercial MDI process experience preferredStrong mechanical skillsExperience in statistical design of experiments as applied to MDI formulation and processes is a plusBS degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field or MS with 2+ years' experienceMedical and Rx Benefits choice of four medical plans through Client.
