This role oversees the full lifecycle of distribution system projects, including pipeline installation, system upgrades, maintenance programs, and regulatory compliance initiatives. The Project Manager coordinates cross-functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure reliable and efficient gas service delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage natural gas distribution projects from initiation through closeout Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans Coordinate with engineering, construction, operations, and regulatory teams Oversee pipeline installation, replacement, and maintenance projects (steel and polyethylene systems) Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., PHMSA, OSHA, environmental requirements) Manage contractors, vendors, and subcontractors, including procurement and performance oversight Monitor project progress, track costs, and implement corrective actions as needed Conduct risk assessments and ensure safety standards are upheld across all project activities Review engineering designs, permits, and construction plans Facilitate stakeholder communication, including internal leadership, municipalities, and customers Prepare project reports, documentation, and closeout packages Support emergency response and system restoration efforts when required Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 5+ years of project management experience in natural gas distribution, utilities, or pipeline construction Strong knowledge of gas distribution systems, materials, and construction methods Familiarity with regulatory requirements (PHMSA, DOT Part 192, OSHA) Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multiple projects simultaneously Experience with contractor management and field operations Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar tools) Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Preferred QualificationsPMP (Project Management Professional) certification Professional Engineer (PE) license Experience with GIS systems and utility asset management tools Knowledge of leak detection, integrity management, and system modernization programs Key CompetenciesSafety leadership and risk management Strategic planning and execution Stakeholder management Decision-making under pressure Attention to detail and regulatory compliance Team leadership and collaboration Work Environment & Physical RequirementsCombination of office and field work environments Frequent site visits to active construction areas Ability to work in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment Occasional after-hours or emergency response responsibilities Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Performance bonuses Health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement plans (401k or pension) Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement
