Electrical Engineering Co-op/Intern - Fall 2026This job description reflects potential openings for the Fall 2026 Co-op/Internship Session (August - December). This is a general job description and represents multiple openings in various departments. Honda offers both single and multi-semester co-ops and internships. College students must apply to the requisition pertaining to their major and semester of interest.Please note: Sponsorship for employment visa status for these positions is unavailable. Work environments and projects may include but are not limited to:ManufacturingFocus on equipment, process, quality and new model activities related to the department of placement (i.e Assembly department, Weld department, Paint department, Stamping department, Casting and Machining department, etc)Project managementProblem analysisInvestigating new technologies and implementing countermeasuresQualityLearning and performing vehicle testingConducting tests for chassis, brakes, controls, bonnet, trunk and/ or door systemsTesting procedures and fixturesNew model development, drawing, layouts and design change requestsInvestigating and providing countermeasures for mass production design related issuesWarranty data trend analysisRe-creating problem failures to determine root cause, develop countermeasures and perform confirmation testingFacilitiesUpdating and documenting computer aided design drawings of existing infrastructureAnalyzing and designing existing sanitation, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and building pressure systemsDeveloping short and long-term solutions to problems foundDesigning modifications of existing facilities infrastructuresUpdating mechanical engineering specifications and standardsReviewing electrical drawingsLearning and understanding plant power infrastructureVerifying electrical panel schedulesUpdating highbay light locationsTooling EquipmentDesigning manufacturing equipment and tooling in 2D and 3D computer aided design systemsDetermining equipment electrical hardware, software (Programmable Logic Controller, Human-Machine Interface, etc.), safety requirements and appropriate designManaging a schedule and tracking daily processesInvestigating and troubleshooting problems during installation and manufacturingResearch and DesignAssisting design engineers in developing/ designing automotive electrical wire harness and components of future modelsSupporting the creation of drawingsComputer aided designCost and weight calculationsAttending meetings and working with various design/ test groups, suppliers, manufacturing groups, etc.Supporting the development of testing automotive electrical systems (infotainment, chassis, engine, power window, sunroof, power tailgate, powerslide door systems and safety systems)This will also include assisting with problem and data analysis, countermeasures, test set-up, data acquisition, test monitoring, recording activities, performance testing and reporting resultWhat you need to be successful in this roleRequired:Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorshipGeneral Engineering CourseworkMinimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA or higher (You will be required to provide your current transcript)Class status- Sophomore (by credit hour) or aboveAvailability to work a minimum of 10 weeks at 40 hours per weekEnrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program studying Electrical Engineering or related fieldValid U.S. Driver's License (exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis)Ability to secure own transportation to and from work each day*Public transportation and ride share services are limited in some of our locations. Co-ops are responsible for securing their own transportation to and from work each day, and must have a reliable plan for transportation in order to be eligible for a position. Our Wellness Centers are full gyms equipped with cardio machines, weights, basketball courts, pools, dieticians, personal trainers and group fitness classes.Paid overtime: Co-ops and Interns will receive 1.5 times their hourly rate of pay for any overtime worked.Consideration for full time employment: Our Cooperative Learning Internships program is utilized as a talent pipeline for our full time positions!Hourly Wage Range: $27.22-$35.22Pay will be based on several variables that include, but not limited to, geographic location, work experience, education, etc.Additional details regarding Honda Co-op and Intern benefits are provided upon offer.
