Our team is built around accountability, responsiveness, and creating long-term partnerships with our clients.Position SummaryJR Global is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Freight Release & Control Specialist to oversee and manage freight release processing and operational controls. This position plays a critical role in ensuring shipments are released accurately, payments and documentation are verified, and shipments move without delays or disruptions.The ideal candidate has strong experience in freight forwarding, ocean operations, CargoWise, and shipment documentation, with the ability to identify discrepancies before they become operational issues.Key ResponsibilitiesFreight Release Processing- Process and post freight releases accurately and timely within CargoWise and carrier systems.- Verify freight releases are successfully posted with steamship lines, terminals, and rail providers.- Monitor release status and follow through until successfully completed.Documentation Review & Verification- Verify required documents are received and properly completed prior to processing releases.- Confirm Original Bills of Lading (OBL) and House Bills of Lading (HBL) are telex released when required.- Review shipment files for completeness and compliance with company procedures.Financial Verification & Freight Control- Review agent debit notes and statements for accuracy.- Verify ocean freight charges match system records and quoted costs.- Coordinate with Accounting to ensure freight payments are processed timely.- Confirm customer accounts are in good standing prior to release processing.Issue Resolution & Follow-Up- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to: - Documentation - Freight charges - Payment status - Release restrictions- Follow up with agents, carriers, terminals, and internal teams to resolve issues quickly.- Escalate critical shipment risks and VIP shipment concerns immediately.Process Management- Maintain accurate shipment release tracking.- Ensure operational deadlines are met to prevent demurrage, storage, or shipment delays.- Recommend process improvements and operational efficiencies.QualificationsRequired:- 3+ years of experience in freight forwarding, ocean operations, or logistics coordination.- Experience processing freight releases and shipment documentation.- Experience using CargoWise or similar transportation management systems.- Strong understanding of: - Bills of Lading - Telex releases - Ocean freight operations - Carrier and agent coordination- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.- Ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.Preferred:- Experience reviewing freight charges, debit notes, or financial shipment controls.- Experience working with terminals, rail providers, and ocean carriers.- Experience handling VIP accounts and time-sensitive shipments.What We Offer- Competitive compensation- Growth opportunities within a fast-growing logistics company- Collaborative team environment- Exposure to international logistics operations- Paid time off and benefits package (if applicable)Join JR Global and become part of a team focused on delivering premium logistics solutions with operational excellence.
