Acute Care Surgery is seeking a dedicated and compassionate nurse to join our team. You will be working alongside a large team of highly skilled Surgeons and APPs specializing in Trauma, Critical Care and Emergency General Surgery, and you will be working very closely with our Ambulatory Nurse Case Manager. Acute Care Surgery (ACS) treats a wide range of patients with urgent, life-threatening conditions including both medical and surgical care. Our team also sees regular elective general surgery patients for issues such as removal of soft tissue masses, various types of hernias, and gallbladder removal. This is a highly collaborative team that works to provide care that's personalized and focused on putting the patient first.In this specialized role, you will:Triage patient messages and phone callsSchedule and arrange diagnostic workupsAssist with FMLA and disability paperworkFacilitate referrals to appropriate providersCoordinate patient care from pre-authorization and scheduling to post procedure follow-up.Assist with managing post-op complicationsConduct behind-the-scenes patient care (non-face-to-face)Perform additional record reviews and prep clinics in advanceAttend clinic during the week alongside our MD and APP providersWhy Work at Nebraska Medicine?Together. Perform duties in an environment of care where the needs of a patient are short term, non-acute, and non-life threatening.Required Qualifications:Associate's in nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required.Demonstrated effective communication skills required.Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) department dependent required.Preferred Qualifications:Based on position, prior experience in patient nursing, specialty/primary care clinic and/or telephonics preferred.Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree preferred.Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred.Proficient with use of email applications preferred.Experience with EPIC or other electronic medical records preferred.Specific to the Medical Call Center department; multi-state license preferred.Nebraska Medicine is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
