The University of Texas Medical Center, anchored by Dell Medical School, is defining the future of health.Do not pass up this chance, apply quickly if your experience and skills match what is in the following description.Announced in August 2023, with planning and implementation underway, The University of Texas Medical Center will establish Austin as a premier healthcare destination alongside other major Texas cities.With two new, state-of-the-art hospitals?a UT specialty hospital and a cancer center built by MD Anderson-plus the academic and research expertise of UT, this initiative will provide integrated, world-class care that is the hallmark of academic medicine.Austin is a vibrant, lively university city, known for its excellent public K-12 schools, lively music scene, superb cuisine, and international festivals such as South by Southwest.The city typically ranks among the country?s best places to live.Nearby lakes and rivers as well as the beautiful adjacent Texas Hill Country provide ample opportunities for outdoor activities.Job Responsibilities: Purpose: Join two existing APPs in Foregut Surgery at UT Health Austin.This role combines direct patient care in OR, clinic and inpatient settings with a focus on collaborative, evidence-based management of patient with diseases of the foregut (GERD/Hiatal Hernias).Responsibilities: Provide care for patients with foregut surgical conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), hiatal hernia, paraoesophageal hernia, and other esophageal and upper gastrointestinal disorders.Care settings will be OR, clinic, and inpatient First assist in OR Collaborate with attending surgeons and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure accurate diagnosis, appropriate surgical and non-surgical management, and continuity of care.Conduct preoperative and postoperative patient evaluations, including history-taking, physical exams, test interpretation, and patient counseling.Independently manage follow-up visits, review diagnostic studies, and adjust care plans in consultation with supervising physicians.Educate patients on surgical procedures, recovery expectations, dietary modifications, and long-term disease management.Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contribute to clinical protocols, and develop patient education materials relevant to foregut surgery.Document care in the electronic medical, coordinate preoperative clearances, and manage surgical scheduling requirements.Support education of medical students, residents, and fellows through clinical teaching and case review.Perform other related duties as assigned.Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Licensed and certified Physician Assistant in the state of Texas, in good standing.Graduate of an accredited nursing or physician assistant program; Bachelor's degree required.Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous quality improvement.Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with value-based care models and multidisciplinary surgical care coordination.Experience with EPIC EHR, Athena EMR, and management of surgical patients in outpatient settings. xhyhwjd Bilingual in English and Spanish.
