Tech 2, Product Development Engineering
Position Summary This technician role supports the R&D team in both early-stage development and ongoing lab operations. The position requires hands-on experience with capital equipment systems, pumps, and electro-mechanical assemblies, supporting prototype builds, troubleshooting, and test execution.
The role includes a balanced mix of engineering support and routine lab testing, with responsibility for executing standard test methods, maintaining equipment, and supporting product development activities.
Key Responsibilities Build, assemble, and troubleshoot prototype systems and capital equipment, including pumps, fluid systems, and electro-mechanical assemblies
Support development activities utilizing platforms such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, LabVIEW, or similar tools
Set up and execute engineering and routine lab tests, including data collection and documentation
Perform routine verification and characterization testing in support of product development and sustaining efforts
Assist in development and refinement of test methods, fixtures, and data acquisition systems
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and fluidic system issues in both prototype and test environments
Maintain, calibrate, and ensure readiness of lab equipment (e.g., multimeters, pressure/flow sensors, oscilloscopes)
Document test results, observations, and technical findings in a clear and organized manner
Support sustaining engineering activities, including product improvements and investigation work
Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to support project execution and timelines
Ensure compliance with Client quality systems and all applicable safety and regulatory requirements
Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
2+ years of hands-on experience in a technical lab, prototyping, or R&D environment
Experience working with capital equipment systems (e.g., pumps, motors, or automated systems) preferred
Familiarity with electronics and instrumentation (wiring, sensors, data acquisition systems)
Experience with mechanical assembly, fluid systems, and troubleshooting
Exposure to LabVIEW, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar platforms preferred
Ability to execute both routine lab testing and development-focused experimentation
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Basic computer skills (Excel, data entry, documentation)
