Position Title: Electrical Controls System Engineer
Location: Covington, GA
Salary: $80,000–$150,000 (commensurate with experience)
Schedule: Full-time, Onsite (40 hours/week)

A well-established global automotive parts manufacturer is seeking an Electrical Controls System Engineer to support manufacturing automation, production equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving manufacturing processes, and working on a variety of automation projects in a hands-on production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, troubleshoot, modify, and improve manufacturing equipment and electrical control systems
Program, troubleshoot, and support PLCs, HMIs, motion control systems, VFDs, and servo drives
Diagnose electrical and controls issues to minimize production downtime
Design and modify control panels, wiring, and electrical circuits
Lead automation, process improvement, and equipment upgrade projects
Collaborate with maintenance, manufacturing, and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and productivity
Conduct equipment testing, process trials, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities
Coordinate with contractors and vendors on capital projects and equipment installations
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
3+ years of experience in manufacturing, automation, controls, or electrical engineering
Hands-on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, or similar platforms)
Knowledge of HMI systems, VFDs, servo drives, encoders, and industrial automation
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings
Strong troubleshooting, project management, and problem-solving skills
AutoCAD experience is a plus
Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus
