Transportation & Safety Supervisor
DescriptionLocation: Plant City, FloridaReports To: Director TransportationType: Full-Time | On-SiteSchedule: Mon-Fri 6am start and on call on weekends/nightsPosition SummaryThe Transportation & Safety Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily transportation operations while ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards. This role supports drivers, monitors fleet performance, promotes a strong safety culture, and works to improve operational efficiency and service levels. This position operates in a transportation environment with exposure to office and outdoor yard conditions. The role will require availability outside of normal business hours to support operations and emergency situations.Key Responsibilities – Transportation OperationsSupervisor daily transportation and fleet operationsMonitor route performance, delivery schedules, and driver productivityCoordinate driver scheduling, dispatch schedules, and driver productivityEnsure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company transportation regulationsAssist with equipment utilization and maintenance coordinationMonitor ELD/HOS compliance and address violations promptlySupport operational problem solving and service recovery effortsMaintain accurate transportation and operational recordsKey Responsibilities – Safety & CompliancePromote and enforce company safety policies and proceduresConduct driver safety meetings, training and coaching sessionsInvestigate accidents, incidents, and safety violationsMonitor driver qualification files and compliance documentationPerform ride-alongs, audits, inspections, and safety observationsTrack safety metrics and identify improvement opportunitiesEnsure compliance with OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and company standardsCoordinate corrective action plans and follow up training when neededKey Responsibilities – Leadership & Team SupportProvide leadership, coaching, and support to drivers and transportation staffAssist with on boarding and training of new employeesFoster a positive, accountable, and safety-focused cultureCollaborate with operations, maintenance and other internal teamsAddress employee concerns and performance issues professionallyQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED require; 3+ years of transportation, logistics, fleet, or safety experienceSupervisory or leadership experience preferredKnowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and transportation complianceExperience with ELD systems, fleet software, and transportation management systemsStrong communication, organizational, and problem solving skillsProficient in Microsoft Office and reporting systemAbility to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple prioritiesPreferred SkillsStrong attention to detail Experience conducting investigations and root cause analysisCommitment to continuous improvementPhysical RequirementsAbility to work in transportation yard areas around trucks and in office environmentAbility to sit, stand, and walk and lift up to 30 poundsWill require occasional travel and flexible scheduling including evenings and/or weekendsBenefitsCompetitive salary and company-performance bonuses.Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) plan with company match.Paid time off and holidays.Opportunity for professional growth and development.A collaborative and dynamic work environment.
