This team plays a vital role in Duke Children's mission of Advancing Health Together.Unit OverviewThis 17-bed blended pediatric specialty unit cares for a unique and complex patient population, including:* Stem cell transplant recipients* Cellular therapy patients (including CAR-T)* Pediatric oncology patients with high-risk hematologic malignancies and brain tumors* Children with sickle cell disease, metabolic disorders, and genetic conditionsThe unit supports longer-term continuity-based care with an average length of stay of ~30 days, allowing nurses to develop deep and meaningful connections with patients and families.Acuity Level:* Transplant & cellular therapy patients: ICU-level ("ICU light")* Oncology patients: step-down acuityStaffing & Support Structure* RN-to-patient ratio: 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity* Free-standing charge nurse 24/7 (no patient assignment)* Health Unit Coordinator 24/7* Nursing Assistants/NCAs on unit daily (7a-7p)* Multidisciplinary rounds with active RN collaborationWhat You Will DoAs a Clinical Nurse II, you will deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care in alignment with the medical and nursing plans of care.
