Field Service Technician
The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing best-in-class service and support for our client's customers. This position should possess the skills necessary to maintain, repair, test, diagnose, troubleshoot, and debug electro-mechanical systems and other integrated automated systems.Primary responsibilities for this position include maintenance and emergency repairs on all installed equipment at the customer location. The FST must be able to use his or her outstanding mechanical skills as well as solid communication skills to work closely with customer supervisors, production employees, and technicians on complex problems and assume responsibilities for continued customer satisfaction. Work assignments will require adherence to a standardized installation, preventative maintenance, and equipment update programs for assigned customers while being able to identify and resolve unanticipated system issues in a timely manner when they occur. This position requires frequent travel to customer sites to assist with installation, servicing, and repair of equipment and related sub-systems.This role will initially require full-time, on-site support of their customer in Blackstone, VA.Key Job ResponsibilitiesPerform routine/scheduled preventive maintenance on all assigned systemsProvide electrical/mechanical support and perform emergency repairs as neededRequired participation in territory after-hours, holiday, and weekend support, as neededEnsure the Targeted Vaccine Delivery System (TVDS) standardized operations and processes are followed and adhered to in assigned territoryImplement and manage the end-user training program for all customer employees responsible for working with installed systemsSupport and conduct the execution of the system evaluation and performance programResponsible for system and service-related communications within assigned customer hatcheriesPrinciple for collecting and completing all relevant reporting forms and procedures including scheduling visits, system maintenance and troubleshooting outcomes, customer site contacts, on-site parts usage and inventory, customer training and certification program, and vehicle and equipment maintenance within assigned timeProvide input and support to Engineering and Bio Research teamsOther duties as assigned based on business needsKey Competencies & SkillsStrong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, PLC-controlled systems, and sensors (photo eyes, proximity switches, temperature, pressure, etc.)Strong communication skills and professionalism when working with customers and internal teams; able to complete clear, timely service reportsAbility to read and work from electrical schematics, blueprints, and machine drawings; capable of diagnosing issues at the component levelExperience using laptops/tablets and diagnostic software for machine interface, troubleshooting, and service reportingWillingness to learn and develop technical skillsSelf-starter with solid problem-solving skills; able to identify root cause, test sensors/inputs, and restore equipment to operation with minimal supervisionStrong work ethic and reliabilityGood communication skillsAbility to follow instructions and processesIntermediate computer skillsEducation & Experience RequirementsAssociate degree in electro-mechanical, industrial maintenance, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)1+ years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting automated industrial equipment in environments such as manufacturing, food processing, or poultry systemsEntry-level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude encouragedCommitted to safe work practices; valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed
