Ideal candidates should have around 5+ years of Google Cloud Platform platform experience and strong enterprise database expertise.Role Overview:This is a hybrid role combining:50% Database Administration50% Database EngineeringThe selected candidate will design, build, operate, and improve secure, scalable, and highly available database platforms within Google Cloud Platform environments.Key Responsibilities:Database Administration: Manage enterprise databases hosted on Google Cloud PlatformPerform backup/recovery, upgrades, patching, and capacity planningImplement HA/DR strategiesHandle performance tuning, indexing, and query optimizatioMaintain security, encryption, and compliance controlsSupport incident response and RCA activitiesMaintain operational documentation and SLAsDatabase Engineering:Design cloud-native database architectures on Google Cloud PlatformWork with:Cloud SQLAlloyDBSpannerBigQueryFirestoreBuild Infrastructure-as-Code using TerraformSupport schema design and data migrationsLead cloud modernization and migration initiativesIntegrate databases into CI/CD pipelinesOptimize cost, scalability, and resiliencyRequired Skills:5+ years of hands-on Google Cloud Platform production experience7+ years of enterprise database experienceStrong expertise with:PostgreSQLMySQLOracleSQL ServerStrong Linux/Unix administration knowledgeSQL performance tuning expertiseScripting with Python/Bash or similarExperience supporting mission-critical 24x7 environmentsExperience in regulated enterprise environmentsPreferred Skills:Financial services/payments industry experienceHands-on experience with:Cloud SpannerBigQueryAlloyDBCloud SQLTerraform/IaC experienceKubernetes-integrated database workloadsKnowledge of SOX/PCI complianceGoogle Cloud Platform Certifications preferred
