Actalent is Hiring a Lab Technician!Job DescriptionThis position focuses on sampling, preparing samples, conducting analyses, and reporting on fertilizer products.Responsibilities+ Receive, label, and safely store samples to be tested.+ Determine and perform necessary tests for analysis and reporting.+ Record tests and analyses, then report the results.+ Discuss and answer any questions regarding the results.+ Organize and store samples in accordance with safety and other requirements to ensure personnel safety and sample integrity.+ Clean and maintain lab equipment, including recalibration of equipment.+ Maintain equipment records and daily work logs.+ Stay current on technical and scientific advances in the field.Essential Skills+ Experience in laboratory, chemistry, and biology.+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.+ Ability to follow directions and work independently.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ At least 6 months of experience in a lab setting, preferably 1-2 years.+ Reliable transportation to and from work.+ Proficiency in computer skills.Work EnvironmentThe role is fully on-site, in a lab setting that sometimes smells like sulfuric acid due to proximity to a plant. Casual dress is required, with members wearing lab coats, goggles, and glasses. Open-toed shoes are not permitted, and pants are required. The work schedule involves 12-hour shifts from 6am to 6pm, with a pattern of working 2 or 3 days on and then 2 or 3 days off, resulting in some weeks totaling 36 hours and others 48, depending on the schedule.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Bartow, FL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.66/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
