Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob DescriptionAs a Lab Technician, you will maintain ongoing records of testing procedures, input data into the computer daily, and ensure all equipment operates accurately by comparing equipment readouts with sample standards. You will maintain a clean working area, manage testing supplies, and perform your duties safely in compliance with all relevant regulations.Responsibilities+ Maintain ongoing records of all testing procedures and input data daily.+ Ensure equipment operates accurately by comparing readouts with sample standards.+ Maintain a neat and clean working area, washing and properly storing equipment.+ Develop effective working relationships with fellow employees.+ Perform duties safely, utilizing approved safety equipment and completing safety certifications.+ Adhere to all FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA, and employer standards and guidelines.+ Conduct moisture, density, viscosity testing, and basic chemistry as outlined by SOPs.+ Perform daily process monitoring tests throughout the plant.+ Maintain samples of tested products to confirm test results if needed.+ Document results of testing procedures and notify operations of required adjustments.+ Enter and report data using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).+ Understand production processes and make recommendations to operators to achieve product quality.+ Perform light maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment.Essential Skills+ Quality control experience.+ Familiarity with GMP and laboratory procedures.+ Ability to prepare and test samples using instrumental and wet chemistry procedures.+ Experience with data entry and computerized data systems.+ Understanding of chemistry, quality assurance, QC, inspection, and sample management.+ Proficiency in lab documentation and operating standard lab equipment (e.g., pH meter, balances, spectrophotometer).Additional Skills & Qualifications+ Good attendance history.+ Excellent safety record and awareness.+ Sufficient computer skills for lab instrument operation and commercial software applications (Excel, Word).+ Experience with plant operations.+ Ability to work on multiple tasks and team build.+ Good organizational skills and ability to assume new responsibilities.+ Excellent communication skills.+ Proven housekeeping and sanitation skills.+ Demonstrated troubleshooting and accurate record-keeping skills.+ Attendance and punctuality.+ Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods.Work EnvironmentThe role involves working on swing shifts with a rotating schedule of 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off, and then switching to nights. Shifts are 12 hours long from 7 am to 7 pm. During training, you will work for approximately 2-3 weeks. You will be on your feet for the entire shift with a 30-minute lunch break and may occasionally need to lift up to 50 lbs.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, NE.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.93 - $25.08/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
