Construction Field Supervisor

Construction Field Supervisor Darcy Solutions is seeking highly motivated and entrepreneurial Field Technician/Supervisor to join our growing startup and help shape our future. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to develop exciting new technology and simultaneously apply it across our expanding customer installations. Candidates must share our passion for making a meaningful contribution in reducing our collective carbon emissions footprint and have an affinity for collaborative problem-solving within our team and with our industry partners and our customers. This role will participate in project planning, quality control testing, construction inspections and oversight, technology development, and interactions with customers and subcontractors. Works with Construction, Sales, Geology and Engineering for approval on the consideration and adoption of any needed process changes and equipment upgrades that impact project management or product throughput. With funding from the NSF, DOE, USDA, State of Minnesota, and climate investors, Darcy is pioneering a new groundwater-based, geothermal approach to sustainable heating and cooling for commercial, industrial, and multi-family residential buildings. We’re working closely with our industry partners to develop new and exciting, integrated ground loop-HVAC designs to help our customers meet increasingly aggressive carbon emissions goals and energy efficiency requirements while lowering costs. Our approach incorporates elements of water well and geothermal technology, resulting in novel solutions that put groundwater to work. The Construction Field Supervisor position offers considerable room for growth, to develop new skills, and to innovate. Responsibilities Construction oversight. Oversee project-specific requirements for well drilling/construction, excavation, and underground piping installation. Ensure and document subcontractor compliance with project requirements and specifications for system construction and installation. Ensure subcontractor compliance with project safety requirements, including subcontractor safety audits. Ability to establish clear expectations and hold subcontractors accountable to them. External coordination. Coordinate with external project team members regarding schedules and project-specific requirements and specifications. Internal coordination. Coordinate with internal project team members (i.e. geology, sales, and engineering team members) regarding schedules and project-specific requirements and specifications. Quality Assurance. Lead equipment testing, calibration, and installation. Assist with ordering, system installation/preparation, and inventory management to ensure success. Sampling. Sample groundwater and system water in compliance with project-specific plans and requirements. Work independently. Complete fieldwork in all weather conditions. Travel to job sites within Minnesota and surrounding states. Other duties as assigned by operations team. Preferred Qualifications Associates or Bachelors in geology, engineering, or other technical field. Completion of apprenticeship program, technical or trade school training also considered. 2 to 5 years of practical field-based experience in geology, engineering, construction, or related technical fields Working knowledge of MS Office suite Creative problem-solving skills, and superb time-management and organizational skills Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications Basic mechanical aptitude and experience with engineered systems Commitment to safety Ability to write and speak clearly and concisely Valid driver's license and a good driving record U.S. Citizenship or USCIS Permanent Resident Card Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance for federal, state, municipal, and educational sites Additional Skills/Experience Project Management Reading technical drawings and coordinating with other trades Knowledge of drilling and well construction methods and practices Knowledge/experience in HVAC industry Knowledge/experience in System Design Knowledge/experience collecting, managing and reporting data OSHA 10 (or higher) safety certification. Candidates that do not have safety certification will go through OSHA training, upon entering employment with Darcy Solutions, prior to going to project sites. Employment Type The Field Technician/Supervisor position is a full-time opportunity. We offer a competitive benefits package with full-time employment. Physical Requirements Driving/Air Travel: Ability to travel by air or motor vehicle to and from local and remote project locations. Walking: Ability to walk construction sites with uneven surfaces and in dust-generating environments; extensive walking frequently required throughout a regular or extended workday Lifting/carrying: Ability to lift and carry loads in excess of 25 lbs. Able to be on a job site for extended periods of time (8-10 hours). Working conditions: Working near electrical and mechanical building equipment and systems. Stand/Sit: Both can range from 0-100% each day Reaching: Frequent reaching overhead and horizontally Vision: Corrected vision to 20/20 required or adequate to perform all essential functions Location This position works out of our New Brighton, MN, office and includes field assignments at various project sites.
