You will operate in locations along the continuum of care from forward-based units through fixed facilities for combat missions, humanitarian missions, other contingency operations, and peacetime. You'll train to be proficient in critical care trauma nursing and possess the knowledge and skills to perform a wide variety of critical health tasks. Such tasks may include enroute care, medical-surgical nursing skills providing ambulatory, inpatient, and patient hold capability. The scope of being an Army Emergency Nurse involves the assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, intervention, and evaluation of human responses to potential or actual physical or psychosocial problems, episodic or acute, and which occur in a variety of settings. You will also interact with and care for individuals, families, groups and communities. In the Army, your practice will be independent and collaborative in nature. The practice of emergency nursing also includes the delivery of compassionate, competent care to consumers through education, research and consultation with expert emergency nurses serving as role models for the specialty.
