Litigation Counsel
We are representing a dynamic and growing boutique law firm in Washington, DC with a strong focus on complex commercial litigation on behalf of insurance carriers. This firm represents sophisticated insurers in high-stakes disputes including in mass tort bankruptcy cases and insurance coverage disputes. The firm’s founding partners have been working together for over 20 years and previously were partners at leading Am Law 100 firms before starting their own firm in 2022.Position Summary:Our client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Litigation Attorney with 6+ years of experience. This role will involve all phases of litigation, from initial case assessment and discovery to motion practice, hearings, and trial.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bankruptcy litigation, with experience in:Developing litigation strategy for disputes and performing key roles in insurance coverage, bankruptcy and commercial litigation and arbitration;Analyzing insurance policies, drafting analyses of coverage issues, and providing coverage advice and recommendations for clients;Conducting complex and rigorous legal research and analysis, and drafting legal memoranda and position papers;Drafting pleadings, briefs, written discovery, and other legal correspondence and litigation documents; andParticipating in depositions, document reviews, hearings, and conferences.Key Responsibilities:Represent insurers in bankruptcy proceedings, including adversary proceedings, relief from stay motions, and claim objectionsDraft and file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents in federal and state courtsConduct and manage all aspects of discovery, including depositions, document review, and e-discoveryPrepare for and attend court hearings, mediations, and arbitrationsConduct legal research and analysis, and prepare memoranda and briefsCommunicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnelManage a caseload and a litigation team, and delegate tasks to junior associates and paralegals as appropriateQualifications:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law schoolActive bar membership in good standing6+ years of litigation experienceExperience representing financial institutions in litigation is a significant plusExperience with mass tort litigation is also helpfulExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentA proven track record of managing complex cases and meeting deadlinesSalary:Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
