HR Intern

Position SummaryThe Human Resources Intern will support the HR team through several high-impact compliance and data-management initiatives. This internship provides hands-on exposure to core HR operations while contributing directly to projects that strengthen regulatory compliance, improve data accuracy, and modernize document management processes. The intern will play a key role in I-9 audits, employee file organization, and the digitization and migration of HR records to Microsoft Teams.Primary Projects & ResponsibilitiesI-9 Audit SupportAssist with internal I-9 audits to ensure compliance with federal employment eligibility requirementsReview I-9 forms for completeness and accuracy, identify discrepancies, and flag issues for HR reviewSupport remediation efforts under HR guidance and maintain appropriate documentation standardsEmployee File OrganizationOrganize and standardize employee personnel files in accordance with HR record-retention policiesEnsure files are complete, properly labeled, and stored in the correct format and locationMaintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretionDigitization of Paper FilesScan, index, and digitize paper employee records into electronic formatsApply consistent naming conventions and filing structures to support easy retrieval and audit readinessPerform quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of digitized recordsElectronic File MigrationAssist in migrating HR files from shared network drives to Microsoft TeamsSupport folder structure design and file organization within Teams to improve accessibility and collaborationValidate successful migration of documents and ensure data integrity throughout the processGeneral HR SupportProvide administrative and project support to the HR team as neededGain exposure to HR compliance, onboarding documentation, and internal HR systemsLearning OutcomesPractical experience with HR compliance and federal employment documentationExposure to HR data governance, file retention, and document management best practicesHands-on experience with Microsoft Teams and digital transformation initiatives within HRQualificationsCurrently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related fieldStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretionProficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Microsoft Teams is a plusReliable, self-motivated, and able to follow structured processesPreferred SkillsInterest in HR operations, compliance, or HR technologyComfortable working with both physical and electronic filesStrong written and verbal communication skills
