Job SummaryProvides planning and delivery of direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation. Develops nursing care plan in coordination with patient, family and interdisciplinary staff as necessary. Communicates changes in patient's clinical condition with Physicians, Nursing Supervisor/Manager, and co-workers as appropriate. Participates in discharge planning process.The Seasonal Staffing program provides a temporary opportunity for the employee to work a minimum of 36 hours (typically 3-12-hour shifts) per week for a 12-week commitment period at a Seasonal Agreement rate of pay. Once the initial commitment period has exhausted the employee can extend the agreement up to an additional 12 weeks in 4-week increments. The employee's status during this period will be Per Diem and ineligible for benefits. At the end of the Seasonal Agreement the employee may has the option, based on current job openings, to change status to full-time, part-time, or per diem. The employee may be required to float between units.Essential FunctionsMaintains the standard of nursing care and implements policies and procedures of the hospital and nursing departmentDirects, supervises and evaluates nursing care provided to patientsAssigns nursing care team members in accordance to patient needs, team members capabilities and qualificationsDocuments patient admission assessment and reassessments, patient care plans and other pertinent information, completely in the patient's medical record according to nursing standards and policiesPerforms assessment on all patients on admission and reassessments as per policyMakes referrals to other disciplines based on assessmentDevelops nursing care plan of assigned patient on admission, updates plan of care as needed and ensures plan of care is coordinated with patient, family, and other members of the teamAssesses and reassess painUtilizes appropriate pain management techniquesEducates the patient and family regarding pain managementRevises the plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment, and evaluates overall plan daily for effectivenessPerforms patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's agePerforms treatments and provide services to level of licensureReceives physician's orders, ensures transcription is accurate and documents completionAssists physicians with examinations, treatments and special procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills within scope of practiceAdministers medication utilizing the five rights of medication administration reducing the potential for medication errorsFormulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching as appropriateInteracts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of careTreats patients and their families with respect and dignityIdentifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their familiesFunctions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providersInterprets data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient groupPerforms all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctlyAnswers telephone, paging system, patients' call lights, anticipates patients' needs, and makes rounds of assigned patients and responds as appropriateInitiates or assists with emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients' conditionProvides end of shift report to on coming nurse, narcotics are counted, documentation is complete, and physician orders signed offCommunicates appropriately and clearly to management, co-workers, and physiciansIdentifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family; communicates with Social Service/Discharge Planner regarding both in hospital and post discharge needsConsults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needsParticipates in orientation, instruction/training of new personnelKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/ExpectationsExcellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical conditionBasic computer knowledgeAble to organized tasks, develop action plans, set priorities and function under stressful situationsAbility to maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departmentsApproximate percent of time required to travel: 0%Pay Range: $70.00/HourScionHealth has a comprehensive benefits package for benefit-eligible employees that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness.QualificationsEducationGraduation from an accredited Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree inNursing or Nursing Diploma programLicenses/CertificationsCurrent state licensure as Registered NurseBCLS certification. ACLS preferredExperienceMinimum six months' Medical/Surgical experience in an acute care setting preferred
