Accounting Manager – Path to Controller
Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to making a meaningful impact in our community. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a collaborative and forward-thinking Accounting Manager who is eager to strengthen financial operations and grow into a Controller role.
Position Overview The Accounting Manager will play a key leadership role in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations while driving process improvements and system implementations. Key Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with leadership to prepare accurate and timely financial statements
Assist with the annual budgeting process and ongoing cash flow forecasting
Direct and continuously improve the month-end close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals
Review contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition and compliance with accounting standards
Oversee Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), and General Ledger (G/L) functions
Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, including training and performance management
Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy
Support audits and ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting regulations and reporting requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
5+ years of progressive accounting experience required, including in public accounting
Strong knowledge of GAAP, including revenue recognition
Demonstrated experience with system implementations and process improvements
Proven leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop a team
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Salary: $115K-130K, depending on experience
