Are you looking for an opportunity where you can wear multiple hats, make an impact, and grow into plastics manufacturing engineering?Our direct client is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join their team at a growing manufacturing facility in NW Suburban Indianapolis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong manufacturing foundation who wants to expand their expertise into plastic parts manufacturing, extrusion, and injection molding while helping build and improve processes in a newer operation that is still evolving and not fully automated.This role is ideal for an ambitious engineer who enjoys working closely with operations, creating processes, improving efficiencies, writing work instructions, and being actively involved on the manufacturing floor.What You'll DoDevelop, improve, and optimize manufacturing processes to drive efficiency, quality, and productivityWork directly on the production floor to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and identify improvement opportunitiesCreate, document, and maintain manufacturing processes, work instructions, setup procedures, and operating standardsAssist with process development related to plastics manufacturing, including extrusion, injection molding, assembly, and packagingSupport continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, quality enhancement, and production efficiencyCollaborate with engineering, production, quality, and product teams to improve manufacturability and process performanceParticipate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities for production issuesHelp evaluate tooling, fixtures, equipment, and manufacturing methods for effectiveness and reliabilityAssist with equipment implementation, validation activities, and operator trainingDevelop preventive maintenance recommendations for manufacturing equipmentSupport quality initiatives and help maintain product consistency and manufacturing standardsContribute to special projects and process improvement efforts as the facility continues to grow and evolveWhat We're Looking For:Required Qualifications:Associate Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field requiredMinimum 3 years of manufacturing experience in a production environmentStrong desire and ambition to learn plastics manufacturing and plastic parts engineeringHands-on mindset with willingness to spend significant time on the manufacturing floorAbility to write manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard operating proceduresStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and organizational abilitiesSelf-starter mentality with a willingness to learn and take ownershipAbility to work in a dynamic environment where priorities shift and team members wear multiple hatsPreferred QualificationsExperience in plastics manufacturing, injection molding, extrusion, assembly, or packaging operations DESIRED – WILL TRAIN!CAD software experience - tooling, mold, or die experience is a plusUnderstanding of quality systems and manufacturing standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.)Project coordination or project management experience a plusProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Why Join Us?Opportunity to learn and develop expertise in plastics manufacturingHands-on role with visibility and impact across operationsGrowing facility environment where your ideas matterDiverse responsibilities and career growth opportunitiesCollaborative team culture focused on learning and continuous improvementNOTE: If you have manufacturing experience, enjoy being on the production floor, and are eager to expand your engineering skills into plastics manufacturing, we would like to talk with you!
