Position: Manufacturing EngineerLocation: Whitestown, INSalary: $80,000 - $87,000 plus bonusShift: 1stEmployment Type: Direct Hire Job SummaryThe Manufacturing Engineer supports efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective production by developing, improving, and optimizing manufacturing processes within the facility. This role is heavily involved in plastics manufacturing operations, including extrusion, injection molding, assembly, and packaging. The Manufacturing Engineer partners cross-functionally with production, quality, tooling, and product design teams to enhance manufacturability, improve process performance, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement initiatives.This position requires strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality standards, tooling, and materials, along with the ability to manage projects, solve production challenges, and drive operational efficiencies.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity.Support plastics manufacturing operations, including injection molding, extrusion, assembly, and packaging processes.Lead continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives by identifying process enhancements, reducing waste, and minimizing defects.Collaborate with product management and design engineering teams to improve product manufacturability and support new product launches or design modifications.Partner with tooling and equipment designers to develop molds, dies, fixtures, and manufacturing tools that meet product specifications and operational requirements.Evaluate tooling and product designs for manufacturability, maintenance, and overall cost-effectiveness.Conduct process validation and verification activities to ensure compliance with industry and quality standards.Develop and implement quality control procedures to maintain product consistency and regulatory compliance.Work closely with quality assurance teams to investigate and resolve deviations, defects, and non-conformities.Perform root cause analysis and failure investigations to address manufacturing and production issues.Create setup and operating work instructions for new equipment and assist with employee training.Develop preventive maintenance recommendations and schedules for manufacturing equipment.Manage project timelines, budgets, and milestones to ensure successful project completion.Identify manufacturing risks and implement strategies to maintain stable production and product quality.Assist with additional engineering and manufacturing duties as needed.Required Skills & AbilitiesStrong verbal and written communication skills.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Knowledge of CAD software for tooling and fixture design.Familiarity with quality standards and methodologies such as ISO and ASTM.Education & ExperienceAssociate degree required.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.Minimum of 3 years of engineering or manufacturing experience, preferably within plastics manufacturing.Strong understanding of plastics manufacturing processes, including injection molding and extrusion technologies.Project management experience is a plus.Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered in place of formal degree requirements.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands listed are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of the role.
