Electrical Engineer
About the CompanyWe are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and oversee the electrical and controls design for capital expansion and maintenance projects within an industrial energy environment. This role is responsible for ensuring that third-party engineering designs meet company standards, industry codes, and project requirements while staying on schedule and within budget. This is a high-impact role requiring deep technical expertise in industrial electrical systems, along with the ability to coordinate across engineering, operations, and project teams.About the RoleOversee and manage electrical and controls design for capital projects executed by external engineering firms.ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and internal specificationsReview and approve engineering deliverables including drawings, technical reports, and equipment specificationsSupport development of project scope, schedule, cost estimates, and execution plansCoordinate closely with project managers, operations, and engineering teams to ensure alignmentProvide technical oversight during construction and commissioning phasesEvaluate vendor proposals and make recommendations based on technical merit, cost, and deliveryIdentify project risks and ensure mitigation strategies are implementedIncorporate lessons learned into future project designs and standardsProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineersQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering7+ years of experience in industrial electrical engineering and project environmentsRequired SkillsStrong experience with industrial power systems480V and medium-voltage systems (e.g., 4160V)Motor control centers, switchgear, transformers, and generatorsExperience with large rotating equipment, such as motors and compressorsHands-on experience with controls and instrumentation systems, including:PLC-based systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley or similar)HMI/SCADA platformsEmergency Shutdown Systems (ESD)Experience reviewing and overseeing work performed by third-party engineering firmsStrong understanding of NEC requirements and hazardous area classificationsAbility to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectivelyStrong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersPreferred SkillsProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseExperience in oil & gas, pipeline, or heavy industrial environmentsFamiliarity with: Instrumentation systems (pressure, temperature, flow, level)Smart transmitters and control devicesCathodic protection systemsExperience supporting construction and commissioning activitiesDemonstrated ability to lead initiatives and drive continuous improvement*We may use artificial intelligence tools to help our recruiters screen and assess talent.
