We are seeking an experienced and committed Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic and innovative organization. This Registered Nurse will provide services to Project Harmony clients in a compassionate, professional, ethical and knowledgeable manner. The Registered Nurse will provide nursing support to the medical providers and will at times also be responsible for medical evaluation, care and treatment for children of suspected abuse.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage the daily operation of the medical clinic to include rooming patients, scheduling/intake of foster care exams and hair tests, medication administration as required/directed by Project Harmony's protocol, testing and lab coordination and organization/stocking of suppliesProvide nursing support to the medical providers during examinations and will at times be responsible for the medical evaluation, care and treatment for children of suspected abuse as directed by protocol. This is to include accurate and complete electronic health record and ETO documentation of clinical services and phone callsEnter lab results, conduct follow-up phone calls, perform follow up testing as indicated and help manage patient documents for electronic medical record and fileComplete electronic health record documenting and ETO documenting of clinical services and phone callsMaintain supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipate needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies and verifying receipt of suppliesConduct hair testing for drug exposure of children as directed by USDTL. Manage hair test forms, logs, sending out and receiving results. This management will also include updating the appropriate parties of the resultsCoordination of care with families, investigators and community providersProvide testimony, as needed, in court regarding medical examinations performed on childrenProvide child abuse education to professionals in partner agencies and in the communityRotate 24/7 on-call responsibilities and be flexible with schedule and call needsEnsure culturally competent services are provided to all families we serve without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, gender or sexual orientationOther duties as assigned by the Medical Program ManagerQualificationsEducationRegistered Nurse degree from an accredited educational institutionLicensed in Nebraska as a Registered NurseAttain Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), pediatric and adolescent, training within six months of hireKeep up to date with all continuing education requirements for state license and/or any other certifications that may be heldExperience and TrainingExperience in medical examinations of childrenSome training and experience in the child welfare system, and working within a multidisciplinary team (MDT), desired but not requiredExperience with Electronic Health Records usefulKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesAbility to establish rapport with children/families of child abuse and neglectDemonstrate effective listening and communication skillsDemonstrate problem solving skills and ability to resolve conflictsComputer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Outlook, Word, etc.) as well as other software and databases (EPIC, ETO etc.)Ability to be flexible and adjust to stressful and ever-changing situationsAbility to be organized and detail orientedMust possess time management skillsMust respect and maintain confidentialityOtherMust be willing to work flexible hoursMust submit to a thorough criminal history background checkMust have access to a vehicle, possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurancePosition may involve some travel, primarily within the stateThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by individuals assigned to this job.
