Senior Manager, Operations Accounting

SENIOR MANAGER, OPERATIONS ACCOUNTING – OIL & GASDallas, TexasHighly Competitive Salary, Bonus, and Benefits PackageJ MAR's client, a publicly traded minerals and royalty management company, seeks a Senior Manager of Operations Accounting to oversee internal operational accounting activities and serve as the primary point of contact for cash management, revenue processing, AP, JIBs, and GL activity.Reporting to the Controller, this role combines hands-on involvement in key accounting functions with oversight of critical review processes to ensure accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and timely close execution.RESPONSIBILITIESOperational Accounting & CloseManage day-to-day operational accounting activities, including cash management, revenue processing, accounts payable, JIBs, and GL activity.Oversee weekly accounts payable and JIB processes, including ACH payments and check runs, ensuring proper approvals, documentation, and cash controls.Review banking activity and ensure timely and accurate recording of cash transfers, intercompany activity, and related journal entries.Review and approve journal entries related to operational accounting, accruals, reclassifications, and period-end adjustments.Manage components of the monthly close process, including revenue close coordination, reconciliations, and analytical review, to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls and U.S. GAAP.Oversee monthly cash reconciliations and tie-outs, and ensure timely preparation and review of other monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations.Support the quarterly close process, including review and approval of quarterly accrual entries and preparation of depletion calculations and impairment analyses.Provide oversight and technical support for revenue accounting, including production revenue, purchaser settlements, and NPI calculations.Support revenue-related projects, system and process enhancements, and analytical requests.Support accounting aspects of acquisition onboarding and integration, partnering with land and revenue teams.Internal Controls & SOX ComplianceSupport the execution and maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting in compliance with SOX.Participate in control documentation, evidence review, and remediation efforts.Coordinate with the financial reporting team and external auditors to support audits and reviews.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree or higher in Accounting. CPA designation is preferred.5+ years of experience in oil and gas operational accounting with supervisory experience.Experience with oil and gas revenue accounting and/or JIBs. Specific experience in a non-operated or minerals and royalties environment is preferred.Demonstrated experience supporting monthly and quarterly close processes.Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and internal reporting.Experience supporting financial statement preparation.Prior involvement in SOX compliance and audit coordination.Exposure to public SEC reporting processes, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K.Experience supporting acquisitions or asset onboarding activities.Advanced Excel skills; experience with oil and gas accounting systems and ERPs.Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills.ABOUT J MARCelebrating over 30 years of excellence in energy recruiting, J MAR & Associates is a trusted leader in talent acquisition.
