POSITION SUMMARYThe Communications Specialist supports the development and execution of clear, timely and engaging communications for our internal team members. The Communications Specialist will report to the Director of Corporate Communications and will partner with their leadership to create and deploy a communications strategy that ensures our team members are well informed and aligned with our organizational priorities, effectively leveraging all our internal channel.This position will focus primarily on internal corporate communications, while also contributing to social media content, press materials and crisis communications in partnership with the Marketing & Communications team.Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Internal CommunicationsDraft, edit and distribute internal communications and content our channels including email, intranet, Teams, leadership videos, announcements and newsletters.Ensure messaging is clear, accurate and aligned with our brand voice and brand standards.Collaborate with leaders and teams to translate complex information into accessible, easy to understand and engaging content.Maintain and update internal communication channels, ensuring content is timely and relevant.External Communications SupportSupport the development of press releases and external announcements, including drafting, editing and coordinating approvals.Monitor external feedback channels and stay abreast of trending new topics or issues that might impact the organization.Administrative & Project SupportManage multiple projects and deadlines at the same time in a fast-paced environment.Proofread content for accuracy, grammar and brand consistencyTrack and organize communications requests, approvals and timelinesAs needed, support measurement and reporting of communication effectivenessOn occasion, provide coverage at corporate functions and community events (nights or weekends.)Skills & CompetenciesExceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent attention to detail and strong organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities at the same time and meet deadlinesCollaborative mindset and comfort working with cross-functional teamsSound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential informationEagerness to learn and grow within a communications functionQUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required; degree in communications, public relations or journalism preferredEXPERIENCE: 3-5 years prior experience in journalism, corporate communications and/or public relations required.PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONSDemonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.WORK ENVIRONMENTThis position requires some walking/standing and may have prolonged periods of sitting. Works with such equipment as computer terminal, fax machine, printer, telephone and copier. Position requires some travel, flexibility of hours including weekends, evenings and on-call coverage as well as lifting up to 20 lbs.
