After School Baking Instructor
Job Summary
We are seeking to hire a contracted worker (1099 form must be provided)
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Baking Instructor to provide Baking Classes for students in 2nd to 6th grades in 3 different elementary schools in Carmel Valley. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education and experience working with a passion for baking. This role requires the ability to engage students effectively, adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs, and foster a positive learning environment.
Duties
Lead after-school cooking classes for elementary students (2nd-6th grade) while getting them excited about trying fun and creative recipes, surprising ingredients and encouraging them to learn about new cuisines and cultures.
Teach provided lesson plans related to basics of nutrition and healthy eating to kids in a fun and engaging way and making sure kids are learning while having fun.
Introducing kids to basic cutting and measuring techniques, food safety, and other concepts provided in the curriculum
Class set up/class clean up (tables, floors, dishes, counters, equipment, supplies, restocking). Ensure that the classroom/teacher lounge is clean.
Provide & maintain weekly emails to parents.
Communicating effectively with parents.
Delivering a fun, positive experience for children
Qualifications
Ages 18+, Clear Background Check and TB test results (blood test)
Be able to work as a contractor (1099)
Be able to drive between 3 schools
Willing to work patiently and hands-on with children.
Delivering a fun, positive experience for children
Experience working with groups of kids (up to 15 kids) is required (can be in a school setting, summer camp, etc.)
Effective classroom management skills
Punctuality and reliability, with access to a reliable form of transportation
Great for student teachers/teachers looking for additional income
Love for teaching and children a must; teaching experience highly recommended; passion for baking
Must be high-energy, entertaining, outgoing, motivating, adhere to kitchen safety and cleanliness standards, & excellent time-management skills
Must be able to work individually and in a team environment in a lively atmosphere
Highly motivated, self-driven
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task
Ability to effectively manage customer concerns
Ability to work and function in a team environment.
Baking/Cooking experience (can be in the home)
What your schedule will look like:
All of our classes run for an hour and 15 minutes for 6 weeks session. Tuesday and Thursday between 2 pm-4 pmWed between 12 pm-2 pm
Location: elementary schools in Carmel Valley (must be able to drive from school to school).
Starting date January 7th , 2025 to Feb 13th , 2025 and March 18th to May 1st , 2025 ( must commit to both sessions)
