Learning Coach, Alpha - $120,000/year USD

AI-powered tools can teach a six-year-old to decode text. They cannot make her want to. Closing that distance is your responsibility.Alpha students in grades K-2 complete their academic learning through AI-driven applications in two hours each day. No traditional instruction. No paper exercises. You spend half your time facilitating one-hour workshops focused on life skills—public speaking, attention, and constructive feedback. A detailed playbook is provided, but high performers in this role customize it for their group and create new exercises when gaps appear. The remaining half of your day is spent working with students individually or in small clusters, analyzing Coachbot data, and guiding each child to reach 100% of their weekly app targets. Connection gives you permission to challenge. Challenge signals your confidence in their potential.A successful quarter means every student reaches their weekly app objectives, passes the Test2Pass assessment for every workshop, and 90%+ report that they love you. Fall short on any of the three and you have not fulfilled the role. Your first year centers on mastering the playbook; after demonstrating your ability to uphold standards, you become eligible for Lead Guide, where you mentor new hires while continuing to lead your own cohort. If you prefer conventional teaching methods, expect a fully scripted curriculum, or see warmth and rigor as incompatible, this role is not for you. If your background includes early-elementary teaching with a focus on group activities, working as a camp counselor with young children, coaching youth sports, or performing in children's theater, the final interview stage involves a shadow day coaching actual Alpha students. Submit your application now. What You Will Be DoingFacilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-2 cohorts covering public speaking, attention, feedback, and other foundational skills, customizing the playbook to fit your group rather than following it verbatim.Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching sessions that ensure every student remains on track to meet weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot data, Alpha's reward structures (school currency, leaderboards), and the personal connection you establish with each child.Delivering the Test2Pass, Alpha's competency-based evaluation, for each life skill, and providing continued coaching to students until they achieve mastery.Engaging kindergarteners at their developmental level using music, narrative, physical activity, and humor while maintaining real, quantifiable expectations for first and second graders.Serving as the caring adult children are excited to see each morning AND the adult who will not allow them to settle for less. What You Won’t Be DoingTeaching lessons at the board. Academic content is delivered through the apps, not by you.Designing curriculum from the ground up. Alpha supplies the playbook and you animate it.Passively monitoring children on devices. Motivation in this role is hands-on, individual, and persistent.Reducing a weekly target so a child can meet it. When a student lags, you address the student, not the standard.Evaluating assignments, preparing for standardized tests, or handling parent outreach. Campus Leads manage family communication, and the other tasks do not apply here.Learning Coach Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure every student in your K-2 cohort achieves their weekly learning targets, demonstrates mastery of each life skill, and finishes the year reporting that they loved you.Basic RequirementsWilling to work on-site at an Alpha campus in La Jolla (San Diego), Lake Forest (Orange County), Palo Alto, Piedmont, San Francisco, Santa Monica, or South Bay (LA), CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, Miami, or Miami Beach, FL; Chicago, IL; or Boston, MA (relocation support provided).Bachelor's degree in any subject. At least 3 years working directly with children ages 4 to 7 (early-elementary teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program leadership).A specific example you can describe of motivating a young child to a hard goal: the goal, what you did, and the outcome.Willingness to let AI handle the instructional content while you focus on motivation and life-skills coaching.Willingness to hold high standards with students even when they push back.Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.Nice-to-have RequirementsExperience in youth sports coaching, children's theater, camp leadership, Montessori/progressive early education, or after-school programs where you directly motivated young children toward defined objectives.Personal history of high achievement (academic, athletic, or professional), demonstrating that expecting excellence from others is intrinsic, not performative.Natural stage presence with young children: the capacity to command a room of kindergarteners through vocal energy, playfulness, and physicality.Proven ability to transform reserved or reluctant young children into engaged, confident contributors.About AlphaWant to join a learning rebellion that’s transforming the traditional classroom?
