Python Cloud Engineer

Position: AWS Certified Cloud Engineer - Python (Contract)Location: South San Francisco, CA – Preferred (Canada or US – 100% Remote)Contract Duration: 12+ months (high possibility of extension or conversion)Position OverviewTeam, specializing in Data Engineering and Bioinformatics systems development, is actively seeking experienced and motivated senior Python software engineers with hands-on AWS experience on leveraging tools like AWS DataZone, AWS Bedrock and others. We invite individuals who are self-motivated and proactive to join us in the development of large-scale scalable computations utilizing AWS services particularly focusing on serverless paradigms.This role involves leveraging AWS services and enhancing our current infrastructure to streamline and future-proof existing solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesWork together in a collaborative and practical manner to address scientific software engineering challenges.Engage with both local and offshore engineering teams to assist in software development endeavorsLeverage existing GenAI and RAG solutions and services developed by other teams to integrate data and existing capabilities into internal chatbots to enhance usability and data discoveryRapid prototyping and iterations to foster innovation and enable the company to explore solutions in a shorter time-frame.Qualifications & RequirementsEducation: B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field.Industry Experience: 2–5 years of relevant experience.Technical SkillsCertified AWS Developer certification (or similar)Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or related field.You have software engineering experience as a Backend developer with backend development using Python and front-end development Knowledge in ReactJS, HTML/CSS in AWS cloud environmentOver 5 years of experience (including any graduate school experience) in developing tools in Python forHigh-Performance Computing and cloud solutions. Seniority level will be determined based on experience and other relevant factors.Proficiency in event-driven architecture and serverless architecture.You have experience enabling various AWS services using infrastructure as a code (IaC) with Terraform and Python.Proficient in the use of technologies such as EKS, ECS, S3, SQS, SNS, ALB.Familiarity with supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning techniques.Working experience with Lambda, Step functions, SQS & SNS (minimum 2 year)Proven track record of developing multiple software applications in a production environment.Self-motivated and passionate about programming and tool development.Professional knowledge a second programming language (JavaScript, Java)Demonstrated adherence to best practices in software engineering, including usability, version control, testing, and abstraction.Familiarity with GitLab CI.Experience deploying high-performing software in cloud environments, with a preference for AWS.Knowledgeable about data structures, message envelope and schema designAbility to effectively communicate complex problems to peers, users, and leadership.
