JOB OVERVIEW Job Title: Emergency Medicine Physician Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Sioux City, IA Service Setting: Inpatient Coverage Type: Clinical Only Coverage Period: March 1, 2026 Ongoing COVERAGE DATES Ongoing coverage beginning March 1, 2026 Open-ended assignment based on coverage needs PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: All ages Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 30,000 annual ED visits Admissions: Yes Rounding: Included as part of emergency department coverage Phone Consults: As required Case Mix: Full-scope emergency medicine FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 484 licensed beds Trauma Level: Level II EMR System: Cerner Office Equipment Available: Standard emergency department equipment Specialty Backup Available: Hospitalist medicine program Support Staff Available: 24-hour physician coverage and 30-hour NP/PA coverage Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Telehealth Experience Required: No In-Person EMR Training Required: Yes, prior to first shift Privileges Required Prior to Training: Yes COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Overtime: Daily OT after 12 hours and weekly OT after 168 hours, differential applied Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered per locum agreement REQUIRED PROCEDURES Emergency department procedures appropriate for physician-level emergency medicine coverage JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active state medical license, CDS, and DEA with Iowa address required Board: Board Certified in ABEM, ABFM, or ABIM (or osteopathic equivalents) DEA: Active DEA required Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, and PALS required Experience: Residency trained in the specialty certified in Other Qualifications: CME documentation and case logs from the past two years required DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide comprehensive emergency medical care for patients of all ages Manage acute and emergent conditions in a Level II trauma center Perform emergency procedures and coordinate admissions as required Collaborate with hospitalist medicine and consulting services Document all patient encounters accurately in Cerner EMR
