Overview
In this role you support the NIH Vaccine Research Center at Bethesda, contributing to collaborative bioanalytical research. You will plan, execute, and assess complex projects in protein purification and CGE/UPLC workflows, influencing go/no-go decisions and leadership recommendations. You work across teams to deliver rigorous data-driven results within time and budget constraints, including publishing and promoting state-of-the-art findings. This position offers meaningful scope to advance vaccine-related science in a cross-functional environment.

ResponsibilitiesExecute scientific R&D projects in CGE/UPLC-related bioanalytical separationPlan, design, and evaluate purification and characterization studiesManage project progress with attention to schedule and budgetCommunicate findings, draft manuscripts, and propose next steps to leadershipSupport go/no-go decisions with data-driven recommendationsExplore and recommend outside technologies for project needsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to advance GMP process developmentMaintain thorough and accurate records of all experiments and results
Key requirementsMS degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or related disciplineMinimum 5 years’ experience in recombinant protein purification development for GMP clinical-phase productsExpertise in protein purification techniques: AEX, CEX, affinity, SEC, HIC; column packing and testingProficiency with AKTA chromatography system and lab-scale TFF systemsExperience with SDS-PAGE, Western Blot; UV/Vis spectrophotometryGMP process development experience in biotech/pharmaceutical or related industry (clinical manufacturing a plus)Strong oral and written communication; ability to work with cross-functional teamsFamiliarity with data evaluation and word processing softwareteam playerclear communicatorcross-functional collaborationAEX, CEX, affinity, SEC, HIC chromatography; AKTA systemcolumn packing and testinglab-scale TFF systems
