Senior Scientist. Cell Therapy Process Development
Overview
In this role you lead CAR-T process development for autologous therapies, translating discovery into scalable manufacturing. You collaborate across research, analytical, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams to advance programs from preclinical through clinical stages. You will optimize unit operations, evaluate processing equipment, and ensure robust, transfer-ready processes. You contribute to a rigorous lab culture and help drive technology transfer and regulatory readiness.

ResponsibilitiesLead design, execution, and interpretation of CAR-T process development studies (cell selection, activation, gene modification, expansion, harvest, formulation, cryopreservation)Develop and optimize autologous CAR-T manufacturing workflows using quality-by-design and risk-based principlesEvaluate and implement cell therapy processing equipment and closed or functionally closed systems; assess scalability and readinessDefine critical process parameters, troubleshoot processing platforms, and optimize single-use consumablesApply flow cytometry to characterize identity, phenotype, viability, activation, and differentiation; coordinate with analytical teamsPerform statistical/multivariate analysis to understand process performance and variabilityLead cross-functional discussions and present study outcomes to project teams and governance forumsSupport technology transfer to GMP manufacturing sites, including documentation, training, deviations, and troubleshootingAuthor and review development reports, risk assessments, and regulatory submission content; mentor junior scientistsMentor junior scientists and foster a collaborative, scientifically rigorous lab culture
