Project Manager Mechanical

Job Description A well-established general contractor is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Project Manager with a strong mechanical background to lead complex HVAC and chiller-related construction projects. This role is ideal for a results-driven professional with extensive experience managing large-scale mechanical systems in commercial, institutional, or government environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in mechanical systems, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously from planning through closeout. This position requires a professional who can successfully operate in regulated environments and qualify for federal clearance. Position SummaryThe Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all phases of construction projects, including planning, budgeting, procurement, execution, and closeout, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all safety and quality standards.This role includes oversight of estimators, superintendents, internal trades, and subcontractors, while maintaining strong client relationships and representing the company at the highest level. Key Responsibilities• Manage mechanical and chiller-related construction projects from initiation to completion• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents• Lead project teams including superintendents, trades, estimators, and subcontractors• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and forecasts• Monitor job progress on-site to ensure compliance with budget, schedule, quality, and safety standards• Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations, building codes, and site safety requirements (including Chapter 33)• Coordinate and facilitate inspections and regulatory compliance requirements• Oversee procurement, vendor management, and subcontractor performance• Manage RFP/RFQ processes, contract administration, and project documentation• Review requisitions, invoices, and change orders for accuracy and compliance• Identify risks, resolve issues proactively, and ensure milestone achievement• Take full ownership of project closeout and completion• Maintain accurate project records and reporting systems• Represent the company professionally with clients and stakeholders Qualifications• Minimum 15+ years of construction project management experience• Strong background in mechanical systems, with demonstrated prior experience managing chiller installation, replacement, or upgrade projects.• Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plans• Experience managing government or institutional construction projects• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently• Must be able to pass federal background clearance (required)• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Master's preferred)• Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera, and AutoCAD• OSHA Certification and NYC SST Cards (preferred/required as applicable)• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites Compensation & Benefits, per company policy• Competitive salary commensurate with experience• 401(k) with company match• Health, dental, and vision insurance• Paid time off and holidays Application RequirementsPlease submit:• Resume• List of completed projects
