Details Large 794-bed Level 1 Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital located approximately 45 minutes from Chicago Surgical unit with 28 OR beds, including 2 hybrid rooms designated for CV/Vascular cases, averaging 60–75 cases per day Diverse surgical caseload including trauma (GSW, stabbings), transplant (kidney, heart, donor), general, GYN, urology, robotic, vascular, ortho, neuro, open hearts, and CABGs Hybrid room cases (5–10/day) include TAVR, AAA, endarterectomies, angiograms, and fistula revisions — adults only Approximately 20% pediatric cases including open hearts, appendectomies, and cholecystectomies; no liver or lung transplants Facility participates in Gifts of Hope donor cases 1:1 patient ratio 10-hour day shifts; OR operates 24/7, 365 days a year with skeleton crew after hours for trauma and urgent cases Weekend rotation: every 4th weekend (Saturday and Sunday) On-call required: 3 calls per 6-week schedule (2 weekends, 1 any day); 30-minute response time required with a sleeping room available for on-call team members 1 holiday required per contract No floating required Charting system: Epic (experience required); equipment includes Alaris, Pyxis, and Siemens (hybrid/IR room) Requirements Active IL RN license required BLS certification required Minimum 2–3 years of acute care OR experience required; IR Hybrid Tech candidates require 3 years of hybrid experience Ability to both scrub and circulate required Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience required for OR RN; Level 1 trauma experience required for CVOR RN Critical care experience preferred for OR RN; required for CVOR RN Epic EMR experience required CVOR RN candidates must be able to scrub and circulate adult or pediatric open-heart cases Siemens equipment experience required for Hybrid IR Tech candidates Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information First-time travelers are welcome to apply Scrubs are provided by the facility Free parking available on-site Support team includes a charge nurse (no patient assignment Monday–Friday), anesthesiologist bedside monitoring, resource nurse, ANM, educators, service line reps, and an Epic super-user Orientation begins with educator and ANM introductions, system login access, online modules, and Epic training, followed by unit orientation on days 2–3 Schedule is rotation-based; self-scheduling is not available — travelers are placed based on unit need 6-week schedules are provided 2–4 weeks in advance All time-off requests must be submitted via email to the scheduling contact American Traveler Job ID P-684923.
