Registered Nurse (RN)The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct and in-direct patient care by adhering to the nursing process in a collaborative environment, promoting optimal patient outcomes through evidence-based practice, care coordination, and patient and family engagement.
Primary Accountabilities
Provides safe and effective nursing care based on assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs across the care continuum.
Administers medications, perform treatments, and document care activities in accordance with Health First's policies and procedures.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, participate in rounds, and support discharge planning.
Applies critical thinking to promptly identify changes in patient condition and initiate the appropriate interventions.
Educates patients and families using teach-back to promote engagement in care and safe transitions.
Adheres to safety protocols and infection prevention practices to protect patients and Associates.
Utilizes Health First technology systems to enter clinical documentation and care plans.
Participates in quality improvement, patient safety, and High Reliability Organization (HRO) initiatives.
Supports precepting, mentoring, and onboarding of new Associates and students as appropriate.
Promotes a culture of purpose, rounding, and communication at the bedside (e.g., whiteboard use, bedside shift report).
Work Experience
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate's degree in Nursing (ASN) or Nursing Diploma.
Work Experience: Meets unit specific care requirements; new graduates taken under consideration based on the needs of the unit.
Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Florida or endorsement.
Certification:
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
Additional certifications to meet unit specific care requirements (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS).
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Proficiency in EMR systems and patient documentation.
Demonstrated initiative in quality and patient safety improvements.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in complex environments.
Must maintains compliance with competency validations and continuing education.
Demonstrate flexibility, reliability, and a commitment to a collaborative work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
Work Experience: One (1) year or more of acute care or specialty setting.
Certification: National certification in specialty area (e.g., CCRN, CMSRN, CEN).
Physical Requirements
Physically agile; requires walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching majority of the shift.
Heavy work that frequently includes lifting or moving objects up to 100 pounds or more with or without assistance.
May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or overhead.
May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
May be exposed to inside environments and outside environments with extreme temperatures, air contamination, dirt, grease, or water.
May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC guidelines.
May operate various types of manual and motorized equipment used in the transportation of materials.
May be exposed to intense noise or vibration and awkward or confined work position.
Communicating with others to exchange information.
Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
Workspace may vary from open to confined.
May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
