The City Council of Magnolia, Texas is seeking a visionary but grounded leader to serve as the next City Administrator and guide the City as it pursues future growth and development opportunities. The next City Administrator will be expected to lead a talented City work force to the next level and provide the City Council and citizens a level of professionalism through honesty, integrity and transparency that will move the City toward excellence in the 21st century. The successful candidate must be able to handle conflict with diplomacy and deal with a crisis in a professional manner. They must be politically neutral yet demonstrate political astuteness, be proactive not reactive and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Expertise and experience in working with new growth in commercial as well as residential development is essential.Ideal Candidate
The next City Administrator must be a dynamic and forward-thinking individual and maintain open and honest communications creating a close, positive, trusting and productive relationship with the Council, staff and citizens. It is essential that they be highly visible and active in the community and forge lasting relationships between the City, other governmental agencies and businesses. The next City Administrator must be a firm but fair administrator that can delegate effectively, hold employees accountable and recruit and maintain a highly qualified staff.
The new City Administrator will have oversight of a total all funds expense budget for 2019 - 2020 of $4,516,733.00 and a projected all funds ending balance of $4,003,017.00 with an employee base of 38.5 FTE's.Minimum Qualifications
The selected candidate, at a minimum, must hold a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, business administration or a related field and must have no less than five years' experience as a City Manager/ Administrator or Assistant/Deputy City Manager/ Administrator in a like sized City or larger including experience in fast growth communities. Having a Master's Degree and being recognized as a Certified Public Manager and ICMA Credentialed Manager would be a plus when applying for this open position.Supplemental Information
