Eisenhower High SchoolPosition Type: Full-Time, Temporary Leave CoverageStart/End Dates: August 10, 2026 - September 30, 2026Summary & PurposeCommunity High School District 218 is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education Teacher to serve in a temporary maternity leave position. This educator will support students with disabilities through high-quality instruction, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and the implementation of individualized education plans. The ideal candidate will be flexible, collaborative, and committed to maintaining continuity of services and instruction during the leave period. This position may include supporting co-taught, resource, or self-contained programming depending on student and departmental needs.Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional Support & ImplementationProvide high-quality, individualized instruction aligned to student IEP goals in assigned settingsDeliver specially designed instruction and implement accommodations/modifications based on student needsMaintain a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and self-advocacyCase Management & Progress MonitoringServe as the acting case manager for assigned students, including progress monitoring and timely communication with families and teamsUtilize data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordinglyParticipate in IEP meetings, as appropriate, and support ongoing team collaborationCollaboration & ContinuityCollaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administrators to support student successContinue established classroom routines and instructional plans to ensure consistency for students during the leave periodParticipate in department meetings and collaborate with team members as directedQualifications RequiredValid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsementStrong understanding of IEP development, SMART goal writing, and progress monitoring practicesAbility to differentiate instruction and modify curriculum to meet student needsEffective collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and staffStrong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate recordsPreferredExperience working with high school students with a wide range of disabilitiesCOMPLIANCE LANGUAGEAll employees must adhere to district Board Policy, administrative procedures, and the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
