Join us and be part of the next wave of transformative care at Cleveland Clinic.Certified CS/SPD Technicians are responsible for cleaning and maintaining surgical and hospital tools. In this position, you will be responsible for safe efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments, distribution equipment, and case cart management helping to ensure patients have the best possible healthcare experience. Come be part of a passionate family of caregivers and make a lasting difference in the lives of patients and their families.A caregiver in this position works 2nd shift Monday - Friday from 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. with weekend on-call rotation.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.Perform case pull functions.Supports departmental initiatives to meet productivity standards and adapt to flexible staffing needsDemonstrates proper handling of equipment, instrumentation, and chemicals while adhering to preventative maintenance schedules and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards during the decontamination process.Determine appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.Build case carts using electronic preference cards and dispatches them to appropriate locationsDispatch case carts to ensure availability for surgical/clinical procedures.Perform record keeping, ordering, stocking and inventory control.Scan, sort and inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness and assemble instruments according to provided lists, wraps and labels.Monitor and control the distribution of supplies and equipment.Upon completing preceptor guidelines, perform preceptor duties and assist in educating non-certified techniciansMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:High School Diploma or GEDSterile Processing Distribution Certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) must be maintainedTwo to five years of experience in Central Service/Sterile Processing areasMilitary experience, such as Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F), consideredAbility to use Computerized Instrument Tracking System to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documenting sterilization loads, and other tasksPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:* Basic computer skillsPhysical Requirements:* Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh 20-30 pounds.* Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 200+ pounds.* Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination.* Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.* Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.Personal Protective Equipment:* Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.Pay RangeMinimum hourly: $21.50Maximum hourly: $29.50The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education.
