Human Resources Generalist: Full Time$44,000-$46,000/yearThe HR Generalist is an integral part of MOSI providing support to the amazing, small yet mighty, staff who serve and educate our guests.MOSI seeks a qualified candidate to be part of all the HR functions of this not-for-profit organization ranging from adopting policies to zeroing in on promoting a unique culture.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Be a resource to employees for HR questionsMaintain HRIS with accurate and retrievable informationPromote and endorse a unique MOSI cultureAssign/conduct regular HR training sessions including harassment and safetyManage job postings utilizing a robust applicant tracking systemCoordinate new employee screening, onboarding, orientationEvaluate and update: handbook, job descriptions, performance evaluation format, and policy development using tools available in current HRISManages volunteer program; coordinates applicants with ManagersQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and deliver quality results on time while working on multiple projects simultaneously.Plan, delegate, and organize tasks to consistently produce results, with minimal supervision.Commitment to excellence and high standards.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.Working knowledge of HRIS, payroll, or database.Experience working with sensitive information and maintaining confidentialityEnjoys being part of a team; pulls own weightPreference to SHRM certifiedCOMPETENCIES:ELICIT-Embodies MOSI's values of Enjoyment, Learning, Impact, Collaboration, Innovation, and Trust; Exudes enthusiasm and creativity; Exhibits sharp critical thinking skills with an openness to diverse opinions and respectful discourse; Practices continuous respect, professionalism, intellectual honesty, integrity, and ethical conduct.Written Communication--Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively; Able to read and interpret written information.Teamwork--Balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Puts success of team above own interests; Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed.Professionalism--Approaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; Accepts responsibility for own actions; Follows through on commitments.Quality--Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.Adaptability--Adapts to changes in the work environment; Manages competing demands; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:Frequently required to sitFrequently use a keyboardFrequently required to talk or hearOccasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to 25 pounds.MOSI is open 363 days a year.
