Find your future with us.Boeing AvionX is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at our new Production and Test facility in Smithfield, PA. to support AvionX work across all business units (BDS, BCA & BGS)Boeing AvionX develops and produces avionics and electronics systems designed for use on aircraft and other platforms for purposes such as navigation, flight controls, information systems, and other core avionics functions. We have set our sights high – to design, develop, and manufacture the most technically advanced and reliable avionic components in the world. We are innovating and developing new products to address the future of the urban air mobility as well as our next generation of commercial, tactical, and trainer aircraft markets, weapons and others.The successful candidate will develop and validate manufacturing processes, support production ramp-up, lead root-cause investigations, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires experience with process development, production readiness, tooling/fixture requirements, FAI, and collaboration with design, quality, and production teams; plus ensure production meets quality, schedule, and cost targets with minimal oversight.Position ResponsibilitiesLead development, validation, and optimization of manufacturing processes, assembly procedures, and work instructionsOwn production readiness and ramp-up plans; coordinate resources to meet capability, capacity, and schedule targetsLead root-cause analysis for complex manufacturing issues and define robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)Direct tooling, fixture, and equipment specification, procurement, installation, validation, and qualificationLead or facilitate FMEA/PFMEA, control plans, and risk mitigation strategiesDrive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methods to improve yield, throughput, and reduce costReview of design models and drawings, creating/reviewing redlines and coordinating with design to incorporate updatesSupport the Authorship of manufacturing plans with the various programs to facilitate buildOversee process qualification activities including First Article Inspection (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) or program-equivalentProvide data-driven analysis and reporting on key manufacturing metrics (yield, cycle time, scrap, throughput)Procurement of parts/material to support Avionic production, coordination with supplier managementClose coordination with: AvionX Engineering teams, Lab engineers and technicians, program engineers, Boeing customers, fabrication technicians and support personnel (material management), electrical and mechanical designers across AvionX and EnterpriseCollaborate closely with design engineering to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and support design changes with manufacturing impact assessmentEnsure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards and support audits and inspectionsRepresent manufacturing engineering in program reviews, configuration meetings, and supplier engagements as requiredBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)Bachelor’s degree or higher 3+ years of experience with project management3+ years of experience with developing and executing operating rhythms, integrated program schedules, project plans, and/or metrics 3+ years of experience providing process improvements and integration strategies 3+ years of experience in developing and maintaining relationships/partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and cross-functional teamsPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with 4-6 years minimum of relevant engineering experience requiredExperience developing and optimizing efficient manufacturing plans Experience generating/approving work instructions, work orders, planning documents Oversight, and management responsibility (including performance mgmt. & reporting) for a portfolio of small to medium size projects in support of AvionX goals and objectives Ensures assigned individuals are executing the identified and assigned tasks and providing appropriate tracking and reporting per plan Provides in-depth analysis of project culminating with lessons learned and historical reports for incorporation into future project plansDevelops solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and innovationActive Secret DoD clearance a plus (ability to get a clearance)Experience with Team Center/Unigraphics and 3DXTravel20%Drug Free WorkplaceBoeing is a Drug Free Workplace (DFW) where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.Pay & BenefitsAt Boeing, we strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain the top talent.
