This role involves planning, leading, and actively participating in a variety of recreational and educational activities, serving as a positive role model, and ensuring a fun, inclusive, and secure environment for all participants.Camper Supervision and Safety:Maintain constant visual and auditory supervision of a group of campers throughout all daily activities, including meals, downtime, and trips.Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines and emergency procedures associated with the camp program.Monitor the emotional and physical well-being of campers and respond appropriately to emergencies, injuries, or illness.Maintain accurate attendance and track the whereabouts of all assigned campers at all times.Activity Planning and Leadership:Plan, organize, and lead a diverse range of activities, such as arts and crafts, sports, games, nature exploration, and team-building exercises.Facilitate and actively participate in group activities, promoting skill development, teamwork, and positive attitudes.Adapt activities to meet the needs and interests of all campers, including those with special needs or varying abilities.Camper Development and Mentorship:Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating qualities like responsibility, patience, integrity, and enthusiasm.Provide guidance and support to help campers meet personal goals and develop social skills.Address and mediate conflicts or behavioral issues among campers in a fair, calm, and respectful manner.Communication and Administration:Maintain open and professional communication with parents, providing updates and addressing concerns as needed.Collaborate effectively with fellow counselors, activity specialists, and the Camp Director.Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time, including incident reports, daily logbooks, and end-of-session paperwork.Assist with the setup, breakdown, and general cleanliness of program areas and equipment.Education and Experience:Must be at least 16-18 years old (depending on camp policy).Prior experience working with children, youth programs, or in a recreational/camp setting is strongly preferred.High school degree or equivalent is typically required for full counselor roles.Skills and Abilities:Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and be an independent problem-solver.Proven patience, creativity, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.Ability to exercise mature judgment and sound decision-making in high-pressure situations.Physically able to participate in camp activities, stand/walk for extended periods, and lift/carry up to 40-50 pounds.Certifications (Preferred or Required upon Hire):Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification.Lifeguard certification, if working with water activities.Background Requirements:Requires a background check upon offerRequires a drug test upon offerDon't meet every single requirement?
