Reporting to the Client Service Manager, the Phlebotomy Training Coordinator plays a key role in onboarding, training, and supporting phlebotomy staff across the laboratory and clinical areas.In this role, you will guide new hires to ensure they follow proper laboratory protocols and procedures, maintain training materials, and support daily phlebotomy operations. You'll collaborate closely with laboratory leadership to ensure high-quality patient care, staff competency, and efficient workflow across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings.What You'll DoTraining & DevelopmentTrain and onboard new phlebotomists across laboratory services, physician offices, and clinical departmentsDevelop and manage individualized training schedules and structured onboarding plansCoordinate hands-on training in outpatient settings, inpatient units, and the Emergency DepartmentPartner with laboratory leadership and the LIS Manager to support training in laboratory systems, blood bank, and department rotationsDevelop and maintain training manuals, syllabi, and competency checklists aligned with current protocolsCompetency & Performance MonitoringMonitor trainee progress and provide ongoing coaching and feedbackConduct weekly check-ins with trainers and trainees to support developmentMaintain competency documentation and ensure all training requirements are completedIdentify performance gaps, coordinate retraining, and assess readiness for independent work and role progressionEvaluate professional conduct and adherence to laboratory standardsCommunication & CollaborationCommunicate trainee progress, performance concerns, and training outcomes to the Client Service ManagerCollaborate with laboratory supervisors to ensure consistent training practices and protocol complianceLead Q&A sessions and provide guidance to resolve training or workflow challengesTraining Program ManagementCoordinate training for new phlebotomy products, procedures, and system updatesDevelop and publish training schedules for internal staff and external locationsMaintain accurate training records, sign-off documentation, and employee training filesSupport development of future trainers within the teamOperations & Workflow SupportAssist with daily phlebotomy operations, staffing coordination, and workflow prioritizationHelp organize coverage across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department needsIdentify service or workflow issues and collaborate on staffing or process adjustmentsProvide input for staff performance evaluationsPartner with leadership to identify and implement process improvements related to patient care and service deliveryProfessional Development & ComplianceStay current with best practices in laboratory medicine and phlebotomyMaintain proficiency in laboratory systems and computer applicationsParticipate in department meetings, trainings, and continuing educationReview and adhere to all laboratory policies, procedures, and compliance standardsMinimum QualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredCompletion of a phlebotomy training program preferredExperienceMinimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience requiredPrevious training, teaching, or precepting experience preferredLicensure/CertificationPhlebotomy certification preferredKey Skills & CompetenciesStrong phlebotomy and venipuncture skillsEffective teaching, coaching, and instructional abilitiesExcellent customer service and patient interaction skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced healthcare environmentProficiency in computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Strong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standardsAbility to read, write, and communicate effectively in EnglishWhy Join Us?Step into a leadership role with direct impact on staff development and patient careCollaborate with a supportive and experienced laboratory leadership teamHelp shape training programs and improve clinical operationsOpportunities for continued professional growth and advancementTo apply, please visit: https://jobs.emersonhospital.org/job/phlebotomy-training-coordinator-laboratory-medical-technologist-cat-emerson-hospital-16693/Copyright 2025 Jobelephant.com Inc.
