As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of patients while enjoying competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and the support of a dedicated clinical team.Required Qualifications:One year of recent experience as a CVOR RNValid RN license in compliance with state regulationsCurrent BLS (AHA/ ARC) certificationPreferred Qualifications:ACLS (AHA/ARC) certificationOther certifications and licenses may be required for this positionSummary:The CVOR registered nurse is responsible for providing direct and indirect nursing care to assigned patients, as well as assisting in monitoring and supporting the patient throughout the surgical procedure. They collaborate closely with the entire surgical team to ensure the optimization of patient outcomes by confirming all necessary surgical supplies and equipment are sterile and functional, assisting with safe patient positioning and draping, and coordinating immediate post-surgical continued patient care.Essential Work Functions:Maintain proficiency in Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including open and closed heart surgeriesPrepare the Cardiovascular operating room for the patient and surgical procedureAssemble equipment, supplies, medications, and implants, ensuring equipment functions and supplies are availableCollaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and the surgical team to deliver coordinated careUtilize data from surgical preference cards for the surgical procedure and surgeonPosition patients safely using approved devices to prevent injury and enable optimal surgical exposureActively participate in Universal Protocol and timeout to confirm patient identity, procedure, and surgical siteHandle and document specimens accurately to ensure diagnostic integrityProvide post-surgical care coordination, including patient handoff to the recovery teamAssess, plan, and evaluate the nursing care of the patient before, during, and after a surgical procedure until patient handoff to the next phase of careEnsure that sterile procedures are followed throughout the course of surgeryRespond effectively to emergencies, such as cardiac arrest, during surgeryPerform other duties as assigned within the scope of the positionAdhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standardsRequired Essential Skills:Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skillsThe ability to read, write, and communicate in the English languageAbility to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skillsPhysical Abilities - Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bendInterpersonal Skills - Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical/Motor Skills - Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipmentMental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel.
