Senior Legal Collections Coordinator
The Senior Collections Coordinator manages accounts receivable and drives cash flow to support the Firm’s financial health. This role focuses on building strong relationships with attorneys, management, and clients to execute effective collection strategies for complex, aged accounts. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capabilities, sharp problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset to help meet revenue goals and ensure a smooth year-end close.Essential FunctionsRelationship Management: Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with attorneys and clients to facilitate smooth collection efforts.Strategy & Documentation: Partner with attorneys to determine follow-up actions for aged accounts; document decisions and strategies in the Firm’s collection software.Account Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for complex accounts, managing key documents, tracking deadlines, and handling back-end maintenance.Financial Analysis: Analyze financial reports to identify trends, accelerate the collection cycle, and recommend improvements for cash flow.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate regularly with the Billing Manager, support teams, and internal departments to align on best billing and collection practices.Operations & Year-End Close: Support accounting operations (Billing, Cash Receipts) and actively participate in year-end close activities to ensure deadlines are met.Job RequirementsExperience: 3–5 years of relevant law firm A/R, billing, and collections experience required.Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred.Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and legal accounting systems (e.g., Aderant, Intapp) preferred.Soft Skills: Exceptional written/verbal communication, strong organizational skills, and a proven track record of building internal and external relationships.Core Competencies: Ability to work with urgency and accuracy under pressure, exercise independent judgment, and maintain strict confidentiality regarding financial data.
