Help Desk Technician

We are currently assisting one of our clients in NYC with a Technical Support position. The candidate MUST HAVE Help Desk Experience and work onsite. HOURS WILL VARY BETWEEN 8AM TO 8PM.MUST BE ABLE TO BEGIN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE POSITION IS TEMPORARY for approximately 3-6 MONTHS. Experience required: 2-5 years.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAnswer all incoming calls for the Desktop/Helpdesk department and handle requests from the Service Request System (SRS)Assist users experiencing problems with their computers, laptops, printers and programs; provide technical support and resolve requests effectively via telephone and Microsoft’s Systems Management Server (SMS) toolTriage, assign, dispatch, or escalate requests appropriately and in a timely manner to Desktop/Helpdesk staffInstall and troubleshoot various software programs including Microsoft Office, create user accounts, and provide upgrades as neededSupport operational systems by investigating, diagnosing, and reporting errorsAssist with Quality Assurance (QA) testing of new and upgraded applications or systemsPerform additional duties as assigned by managementMust meet performance standards including attendance and punctualityQualificationsAssociate’s degree in Information Technology (IT) or equivalent years experience required; plusMinimum of six (6) months experience providing technical support in an IT Helpdesk environment requiredAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc)Experience with Windows XP and Microsoft Admin experience (i.e. SMS, AD, DNS)Ability to install and troubleshoot various software packagesExcellent troubleshooting and hardware diagnostic skills to include desktops, laptops, and printersThorough knowledge of wide area networking, internet access, and usageStrong customer service skills a must; able to effectively handle calls and resolve requestsGood communication and interpersonal skillsAble to multi-task, prioritize, work well independently and in a teamAbility to lift and move computer equipment as needed
