Director of Human Resources

Primary Purpose:Responsible for supporting the Deputy Superintendent for Administration in overall management of the district's human resources. Supports the strategic planning and implementation of human resources programs to include professional and auxiliary staffing, wage and salary administration, leave administration, performance appraisal, employee relations, and benefits. Implement legally sound and effective human resources management programs, policies, and practices. Ensure district compliance with state certification and licensing requirements. Verify and monitor certification status of applicants and employees. Ensure the recruitment of qualified personnel. Communicate frequently with applicants, employees, administrators, and outside agencies.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Bachelor's degree in human resources or equivalentSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of selection, training, and supervision of personnelKnowledge of wage and salary, benefits, and performance appraisal administrationKnowledge of general and education employment law and hearing proceduresAbility to implement policy and proceduresAbility to use software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and do word processingAbility to manage budget and personnelExcellent public relations, organizational, communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to speak effectively before groups of employees, the school board, or other organizationsExperience:Four years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management or public administration preferred.
