Electrical Engineer
Job Title: Electrical Engineer 4 / Power Electronics Location: Chillicothe, IL Duration: 12 months contract (Possibility of extension) Job Description: This position will be part of the Product Health team for Client's e-drivetrain power inverters, within Client's Electrification + Energy Solutions Division The Product Health team is responsible for all maintenance and production improvement aspects of in-production inverters. Responsibilities include power inverter field issue and CPI issue resolutions, cost-reduction project execution, component obsolescence management, and new source introduction execution. Work with a highly skilled and collaborative team to develop critical electrification components Develop deep and hands-on technical skills in power electronics component development including testing, validation, analysis, design, and issue resolution Gain high voltage and high-power experience in off-highway electric drivetrain Typical task breakdown: Perform lab tests and root-cause analysis for field failures and develop solutions. Test planning, documentation, fixture setup, test execution, data processing and analysis, summarizing and reporting of test results, failure analysis. Review engineering drawings, technical requirements, and specifications, work with process partners for print updates. Execute cost-reduction projects by performing sample validation, technical evaluation of new suppliers, collaborate with SDEs and purchasing team to initialize production, etc. Utilize quality tools and processes including CPI, FMEA, APQP & PPAP. Education & Experience Required: Years of experience: 6 Degree requirement: BS in Electrical Engineering required. 4 years for a M.S. Power Electronics focus preferred. Experience in reviewing engineering drawings, technical requirements, and specifications, work with process partners for print updates. Experience with CPI processes, root-cause analysis, and deep hands-on troubleshooting experience. Experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, experience with test data analysis tools such as Pythons, MATLAB, Excel, and JBER. Experience with using dataloggers, oscilloscopes, HV differential probe, current transducer, thermal chambers, high voltage power supplies, high current power supplies. Experience with Pythons, MATLAB, Excel, and JBER for test data analysis. (Desired) Experience with power inverter production and maintenance tasks, obsolescence management experience, and life cycle management. Clear communicator and the ability to work efficiently across multiple process partner teams: electrical and mechanical engineers, thermal simulation, quality, manufacturing, purchasing.
