The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe and effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of a recognized model of care, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring or precepting staff. Job Responsibilities: Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments as warranted by patient condition. The RN demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Development and Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care. The RN collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services. The RN utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patients, and families. Evaluation: The RN monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions. Education: The RN facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs. The RN provides education relevant to care, treatment, and services during the stay and at discharge. Leadership: The RN delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. The RN functions as a mentor and preceptor. The RN demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork. The RN identifies and appropriately communicates opportunities for improvement. The RN participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes.
