Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients. Provides care for critically ill patients. Manages airway, pain, cardiac monitoring and post-operative care. Provides individualized, age-specific care that supports homeostatic regulation and physiological functioning. Maintains accurate nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity while maintaining patient confidentiality. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Interacts professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of an individualized care plan. Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates its effectiveness. Supervises other healthcare staff involved in patient care. Assists with procedures and responds promptly to changes in workload. Participates in performance improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes. Serves as a preceptor to orient new employees. Enhances professional growth through participation in educational programs and workshops. Maintains the operation of patient care equipment and ensures an adequate supply of materials. Demonstrates organizational and flexibility skills under stressful situations. Adheres to infection control and safety policies and performs housekeeping duties when necessary. Assists with the transportation of patients as needed. Meets all departmental specific competencies and serves as a role model for other staff members.
