Spokane Valley Chamber – Commerce Business of the Year Best Commercial Construction Company – Coeur d’Alene B2B Awards – 8 years running!BenefitsComprehensive Benefits Package:Medical, dental, and vision insuranceHealth Reimbursement Account (HRA)401(k) with company matchLife insurancePaid vacation and holidaysProfit sharing opportunitiesPerformance-based bonus systemWhat You’ll Be DoingYou will be responsible for supporting and leading the successful preconstruction and estimating efforts for multiple commercial construction projects, ensuring complete, accurate, and competitive pricing while helping position Baker Construction for continued growth and success.This IncludesPerforming quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications for all project scopes.Preparing conceptual, schematic, design development, negotiated, and hard bid estimates.Soliciting bids from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.Developing and managing bid lists to ensure complete market coverage.Reviewing, leveling, and analyzing subcontractor proposals for scope gaps, exclusions, and competitiveness.Preparing estimate summaries, bid tabs, and pricing comparisons.Assisting with value engineering and cost-saving alternatives.Managing bid documents, addenda, specifications, and drawing revisions.Creating and tracking RFIs during the bidding process.Supporting negotiated project budgeting, GMP development, and conceptual pricing.Coordinating project handoff to operations teams upon award.Building and maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and industry partners.Participating in preconstruction meetings, client presentations, and internal planning sessions.Contributing to our collaborative culture by participating in team initiatives, mentorship opportunities, and company growth efforts.What We’re Looking ForProven success as an Estimator, Project Engineer, Project Manager, or similar role with a commercial general contractor.A strong cultural fit who embraces teamwork, builds trust, engages in healthy conflict, and is committed to collective success.Experience estimating a range of project types including healthcare, financial, retail, dental, hospitality, industrial, aerospace, government, education, and multi-family.Strong understanding of construction methods such as wood frame, steel, masonry, tilt-wall, post-tension, pre-engineered metal buildings, and tenant improvement systems.Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, scopes of work, and technical documents.Experience with development of project schedules.Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Project, and Excel, OST, and estimating platforms. Experience with Sage 300 or Acumatica is a plus.Self-starter with exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills.Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field is a plus.LEED® and Green Construction knowledge is also a plus.Workplace SettingAt Baker Construction, this role functions in a dual environment, split between a professional corporate office and active construction project sites. In the office, you will frequently utilize standard business technology, including computers, telecommunications, and document management systems.When visiting or working on-site, you may be exposed to more rugged conditions, including:Industrial Elements: Work near moving mechanical equipment, vibrations, and occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.External Conditions: Tasks may be performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, from high heat to cold elements.Acoustics: Noise levels at project sites can be significant, ranging from moderate to loud.Physical RequirementsTo perform the essential functions of this position, the following physical capabilities are necessary:Movement: Frequent sitting, standing, and walking across both level and uneven surfaces. You may occasionally be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl to inspect work or navigate a site.Coordination: Regular use of hands and arms to operate computers, handle documents, and reach for equipment.Strength: The ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently, with the occasional need to lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.Sensory Perception: Clear verbal communication and the ability to hear instructions are vital.
